Lymphoma

1. What is it?
Lymphoma
Lymphomas are blood diseases that may be slow and benign evolution or on the contrary fast and malignant evolution.

Malignant lymphomas combine Hodgkin lymphomas (or Hodgkin's disease and non-Hodgkin malignant lymphomas (NHL) and preferentially affect men.

Hodgkin's disease represents more than 40% of malignant lymphomas. Its overall survival rate is 5 years higher than 75%. The cause of this disease is unknown, although some privileges are known with the presence of high antibody titres against Epstein Barr virus (EBV).

LNHs are decried conditions that usually occur within lymphoid tissues (lymph nodes, rates, bone marrow). They may also occur in extra-ganglion locations such as the digestive tract (stomach, intestate hail), the oral cavity and the pharynx, the skin, the central nervous system, the testicles. Their frequencies increase over time, which evokes the role of environmental factors (agricultural pesticides, chemical and petroleum industry derivatives). Some NHL cases are identified as:

-Congenital or acquired severe immunosuppression (AIDS, immunosuppressive therapy for organ transplant) and Quebec various autoimmune pathologies (lupus,...);

-NHL of African Burkitt, associated with malaria endemic and early exposure to Epstein-Barr virus (EBV).

-lymphoma associated with a retrovirus, HTLV1 (exceptional in Europe).

-NHL of malt (lymphoid tissue associated with mucous membranes) associated with chronic gastric infection by Helicobacter pylori.

Their treatments therefore depend on the spread of the disease and its scalability.

Above all general signs and lymph nodes.

A moderate lasting fever (38 °; more than 7 days), abundant night sweats, or a significant weight loss (10% of the usual weights) are general signs suggestive of malignant lymphomas.

Classically, malignant lymphomas result in the existence of progressively occurring lymph nodes and in aggressive forms by hepatic, pulmonary or bone damage.
